My Hands Are Made of Sandpaper; Why Oh Why?

I could not figure out what was wrong with my hands the past few days. Did I burn them? Why do they feel so stiff, and swollen, and awfully dry? Last night I finally figured it out! It's been so long since I've been in contact with Sodium Lauryl/th Sulphates that I'd forgotten the damage those laboratory skin irritants and mechanical degreasers do to living skin.

Since my dish washing sanitizer broke in the clinic, I've been hand washing with my housemate's detergent (that'll teach me!) and sanitizing with alcohol. Boo hoo! Ouch! I'm now reconditioning with Shea Intensive Healing Lotion http://www.anarreshealth.ca/node/132 and going back to my Soap Nuts http://www.anarreshealth.ca/node/1035 soaked in water for dishwashing.
