AS A TEA: Butterfly-pea flower tea commonly known as Blue Tea is a caffeine-free herbal tea, or tisane, a traditional beverage made from a decoction or infusion of the flower petals or even whole flower of the Clitoria ternatea plant. One of the aspects of the tea is the fact that the liquid changes colour based on the pH level of the substance added to it, for instance, adding lemon juice to the tea will turn it purple. The flavour of the tea has been described as "earthy and woody, similar to a fine green tea

AS A DYE: Butterfly pea flower tea gains its distinctive tint from the deep blue colour of the petals that have made the plant a popular dye for centuries.

AS A MEDICINAL HERB: Clitoria flowers or blue tea flowers are used for their many medicinal properties in Ayurveda. Traditionally, the Butterfly Pea plant and tea made from it have been used to treat general pain, reduce inflammation, help with common eye issues like conjunctivitis, fight against certain types of cancers, induce brain health, and “increase vitality.”
