Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed techniques are powerful tools for deepening one’s understanding of social injustice and exploring how to break the cycle of oppression in educational environments. These techniques can be used for conflict resolution, initiating dialogue, motivating positive change, advocacy, community building, self-awareness and personal growth. These techniques are incredible for educational purposes and are a part of the Ontario curriculum for grade 9 students. No previous theatre experience necessary. A suggested reading list will accompany the training.
