I love water, but I try to conserve every drop I can within reason for sure. And I try to encourage others to do the same.

Most importantly I try not to purchase any types of plants that require a lot of water. Its just not practical. I have 3 rain barrels (2 of which are in full use) we will hookup the 3rd one this year. So as not to use the hose at all. The only time I need to use the hose is for the bird bath, clean and fill with fresh water. For watering the garden I have hoses hooked up to the rain barrels, so I rarely use the garden hose for other purposes than for the bird bath. No need to. And as for watering the grass. Never. Yes we have lots of weeds, but who cares. I don't need a golf green yard.

Also I use a dishwasher which conserves big time. And never ever leave the tap running for anything. Waste not want not is my motto. Also this summer I will just use giant pots instead of smaller ones as the big ones are more water efficient. As my front porch faces west, it gets very hot. So it makes sense to be practical. Also we need to puts lots of mulch on garden beds in general to keep moisture in, therefore very little use of water.

Catherine is looking forward to hearing Emily Hunter.

Bike Delivery - Carbon free!

Featherstone Two Wheels Green Delivery is more than a pollution-free way of moving stuff—it fits in with my ideas on environmental sustainability (I really like the idea of moving things without having to go to the gas station) and combines my life-long love of cycling and the outdoors with helping small businesses and people.

My bike and trailer can haul just about anything within downtown and mid-town Toronto—I love the logistics of doing deliveries in a big city! I carry syrup, honey, mushrooms, rainbarrels, lunches for daycares, organic milk in glass bottles, fruits and vegetables, computer equipment, bike maps/brochures, organic fair-trade coffee, t-shirts, clothing, manequins and much more…
