It physically works to provide 28 times the skin's natural protection against harmful UVA & UVB rays. On top of this, it is an inert ingredient, often used to thicken lotions and creams. For sunscreening, depending on the percentage you use in your cream, lotion or balm, it will raise your naturally SPF 15 lotion or cream to SPF 25 - 35.
