Catnip is a member of the mint family. Its name is derived from the intense reaction from most cats who are exposed to it.
While catnip leaves were used as a tea or infusion to treat intestinal cramps, insomnia, anxiety and headaches in the past, today, it is more likely to be used as an effective insect repellent.
