Anyway here is a recipe that I got from my daughter that used to do twist outs and I then used it on my 2nd born.
Flaxseed and Aloe Styling gel
1/4 cup flaxseeds
2 cups of water
2 tbsp of aloe vera gel
3-5 drops of your favourite essential oil (I personally enjoy lavender and rosemary)
Boil 2 cups of water and add flaxseeds until the mixture is thick and starting to become white and frothy. Pour mixture through a strainer into a glass bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and let sit to cool. Pour into an airtight container. Now it is ready to use. Apply to clean hair and style. On curly hair, one can apply, twist or braid the hair and leave overnight. In the morning when you unravel the twists/braids, gorgeous and well-defined curls result. Store the rest in the refrigerator.
About Lesley
I work full time in an office environment and have done so for over 25 years so whenever I have an opportunity to do something different or creative, I like to take it. I enjoy being outside, bike-riding, swimming, and re-arranging my home.
Due to migraines and other health challenges with myself and my family, I sought the help of a naturopath several years ago. That resulted in taking a deeper look into the harmful chemicals present in several items that I purchased and consumed. Hence, I began making my own detergent, shampoos, and body care products. With the popularity of 'natural' products in stores over the last 10 years, I have gotten comfortable and started purchasing those items again....except for my peppermint/lavender shea butter and olive oil body butter. When it comes to moisturizing my skin, I have continued to make my own.
I look forward to learning from a live person in my time at Anarres versus various recipes on the internet. The recipes that I found on the internet definitely met a need but now it's time to know the benefits of different blends and to learn aromatherapy holistically.
