Q: I had a question about your glass bottles. I want to decant some vanilla into smaller bottles as a gift to my students, should I wash/sterilize the bottles first or do they come sterile?
A: No containers are sterile from any supplier. Sterile items would be vacuum sealed with Sterile until dates. I suggest that you sterilize all containers and let them dry thoroughly before filling. I use perfumery alcohol https://www.anarreshealth.ca/perfumery-alcohol and/or UVC lights https://www.anarreshealth.ca/sanitizer-portable-UVC. There are other ways to sterilize too, such as heating in the oven, in boiling water, or using peroxide, etc.
