We grind achiote to add flavour and a beautiful red hue that gives this chocolate its crimson colour and provocative name. ChocoSol drinking chocolate is one of our favourite symbolic invitations and is inspired by the flavours and food traditions of Southern Mexico. It is a frothy, full-flavoured and refreshing drink that can be served hot or cold!

How to make our drinking chocolate:

Blender Add 6 squares of chocolate to 8oz of hot water, blend for one minute.
Stovetop Bring 8oz of water to a boil, add 6 squares of chocolate and stir continuously until chocolate is melted and blended into the water.
Tips: try making our drinks with coffee for an energizing mocha, or your choice of milk for a dependently rich chocolate con leche!

To the Spanish, Sol means sun, to the French the earth and is phonetical “soul” in English. All of which is the inspiration behind ChocoSol chocolate. The energy of the sun roasts the raw cacao bean, nurtures the chocolate’s earth and the final solid chocolate product feeds our souls.

ChocoSol is not your average chocolate supplier, but a learning community and social enterprise. The trade is horizontal between farmers and distributors so that chocolate remains a symbolic product, not a commodity. Michael Sacco was first introduced to the traditional processes of making chocolate when working on his master thesis on solar concentrators in Southern Mexico.
