Irish Moss, Carrageen, Cut and Sifted, sold by the gram
Chondrus crispus Wildcrafted Irish moss or #carrageen is a #nutritious species of red algae that grows along the rocky parts of the Atlantic coast of Europe and North America. Rich in #potassium chloride, #IrishMoss can work wonders for #congestion and #mucous and holds #anti-bacterial and #anti-viral properties.

Its principal constituent is a #mucilaginous body, made of the polysaccharide #carrageenan. It also consists of nearly 10% dry weight #protein and about 15% dry weight #mineral matter, and is rich in #iodine and #sulphur. It will form a #jelly when boiled, holding 20 to 100 times its weight of water.
USES IN SKINCARE
It's also thought to be good for #dry skin and for skin conditions ranging from #eczema to #psoriasis, making it a valued ingredient for #lotions and #moisturizers.
