A Response To The Low Carb / Altkins Diet

Dear all dieters,

The low carbohydrate+high protein diet is very hard on the kidneys, not to mention the environment.
If you are predisposed to kidney problems, it can kill you.
If you did not have kidney problems before, it can disable you.
As a health practitioner, I could refer you to reams of evidence, but you can look that up yourselves on the interwebs.

Basically, we humans need carbohydrates.
Not sugars, but complex carbohydrates with their soluble and insoluble fibre and vitamins.
In the absence of carbohydrates, we go into starvation mode.
Our bodies generate lots of poisons for the kidneys to handle.
We lose weight because we can't get nourished by the food we are eating.
When we stop the high protein, low carbohydrate diet,
we are malnourished and our body puts on fat in an attempt to help us survive the next famine.

The best way to lose unwanted fat permanently
is to switch to whole, unprocessed foods (think brown rice, whole fruits and vegetables)
to eat raw foods every day
to eat less calories (lowering fats and sugars - simple carbohydrates)
to take a multi vitamin and mineral supplement while eating less to lose fat
to stop eating anything that you are intolerant or allergic to
to drink 3 litres (3/4 gallon) of water or herbal tea a day to flush out toxins and satisfy your natural thirst
and to exercise - walk daily 30+ minutes and workout to a sweat every second day

In this way you lose unwanted fat - not water - slowly but surely
and develop good eating habits for the rest of your life.
Your muscle mass will increase through exercise so you'll use more calories per day to maintain your figure.
Your hormones will balance.
You'll live years longer.
You will not gain weight after reducing.

I promise!
