We are building towards our own model urban school and rural retreat center.

Costs:

We know that everyone's economic situation is different, and we are committed to making sure that anyone who wants to come to camp is able. Conscious Minds Co-op is a volunteer-based organization (no permanent staff), and we strive to balance access to camp with paying the folks who make camp possible.

This year we are offering a sliding scale of payment options, with what your payments contribute to listed below:

$75 per day - Covers one camper for their chosen number of days, including food, campsite and programming

$500 for the week - Covers one camper for the whole week

Conscious Minds has always operated on a Pay What You Can mindset for those who are experiencing financial difficulties. This option enables you to pay what you can afford, and we're encouraging in-kind donations alongside funds this year, in the form of groceries, or volunteering your time at camp - Please reach out with any questions :)

The total cost of running Conscious Minds Camp is $11,000 (renting the land, paying chefs, transportation, camping gear and workshop facilitators).

We welcome any donations to offset this cost!

**Assistance with transportation to and from camp is limited, but we strive to ensure everyone can make it to camp! Please indicate when registering if you will need assistance with your travels and we will get in touch to organize your transportation! Camp is located about 20 minutes from the Coburg train station, so you may be asked to commute there to be picked up. If you have a vehicle and can transport campers who also live in your area, please indicate that in your registration form as well.

workshop Host Biography Tracey TieF
I am a Certified Natural Health Practitioner, folk herbalist and plant spirit medicine practitioner. My mission is to educate people about natural healthy fairly traded and local botanical ingredients, and how to use these to create affordable, wholesome, and effective body care. Wholistic health to me does not mean merely the health of our individual minds, bodies, and spirits, but also the health of the Earth and all its Beings.

Workshop 1: Make an Herbal Wand for Burning and Saining

We'll learn about and gather herbs respectfully from the land during our herb walk. Folk herbalism meets respect for our ultra-local environment!

Starring herbs that you'll gather respectfully from the land: as well as samples I’ve bought from my rooftop garden - calendula, evergreens, wild carrot, dandelion, comfrey, sages, plantain, red white and yellow yarrows, Aztec sweet herb and rue, echinaceas, geraniums, sweetgrass, valerian, and more!

This is a workshop about the plants traditionally used for burning and signing with an emphasis on ancestral herbs and practices. Saining (Gaelic seun and sian and the Old Irish sén) is a Scots word for blessing, protecting or consecrating, and includes formal and informal rites using fire, smoke, water etc. You'll make a healing herbal wand for connecting with your ancestors' mind, body and spirit.

We’ll walk the land to discover and respectfully gather plant materials for our wands. Once I introduce you to the herbs, you'll make:
* an herb tea to share
* an herbal wand using locally gathered herns

You will take the custom magical herbal wand you made for healing body, mind and spirit!

Workshop 2: Make Moon Beads

The moon is humanity’s first calendar, and menstrual cycles are the connection within human bodies! In this workshop by request, we'll discuss what hormones are, what they do, and how they contribute to "femaleness" and "maleness" at different life stages. We'll talk about what can go wrong when hormone-disrupting chemicals enter our bodies through air, drinks, and foods, and how to reduce our exposure to xenoestrogens. I'll demonstrate how to make moon cycle beads, and how to use them to help regulate your cycles or simply track the moon's cycles. You'll make your own to take home!

Through a 2-Spirit, Trans+ and Non-Binary inclusive lens, I’ll introduce human hormone cycles, and traditions about the moon cycles, then we will make Moon Beads together. Moon Beads can help you synchronize your body’s rhythms with the moon’s cycle.

All genders welcome. Remedial human biology class!

Workshop 3: Body Care Buffet

Old school is New School when it comes to body care. Humans have been making products to care for their bodies for millennia! Come to the body care Buffet to make yourself some toothpaste, brightening tooth powder, moisturizer, deodorant, sunscreen, household cleaners, body scrubs…. If you need it, the affordable, fairly traded and common ingredients here are all you need. Find out what your ancestors used! Discover ingredients that are local and sustainable! Do It Yourself!

Come by the Body Care Buffet to create any body care product you can think of! Athlete’s foot? We can make an ointment. Acne? You can make a cleanser. Want to convert your mother? We can make a fancy night cream! Tracey will be on hand to help you create a recipe and your own custom body care!
